Back in April, at the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, the PEACE Board of Directors decided to maintain its practice of announcing its annual fundraising campaign in its May newsletter; however, it also decided not to confuse the then active Humanitarian Relief Project (HR) fundraising project and decided to delay soliciting donations for the 8th Annual 2020 Pledge for PEACE Campaign until the last quarter of 2020.
The immediate call to action by PEACE Punta de Mita in early March 2020 has resulted in food sustenance being delivered to people months before the deadly virus arrived to Punta de Mita. Although people were not becoming sick then, the closure of schools and businesses created a sense of panic for people who live, week to week, on sparse incomes.
On November 11th, we lost one of the most caring and compassionate people on the planet, Gretchen Dewitt. We animalists are in mourning for the loss of this great woman, her tireless effort in the aid of all animals will live on.
In recent months, Teacher Maria Rangel has been working on a series of projects and workshops designed for people to share and replicate what they’ve learned, but, above all, to be able to work from home and sell their artisanal products. During the months of October and November, workshops on natural cosmetics, eco makeup, candles, zero waste and herbalism were given; as well as a finance workshop to teach them how to earn a profit from their products.
