Scholarship Program

The Scholarship program has benefited many young people from the community, here we present some of them so that you know them better.

Amram

Amram Atlai Cortes Pelayo

My name is Amram Atlai Cortés Pelayo and I am 17 years old. I’m from Punta de Mita, Nayarit. I consider myself an open-minded person, very athletic and with a good attitude in life. I really enjoy exercising and striving to get a champion’s fitness.

I actually enjoy my school a lot and study with my classmates, but it wasn’t always like this. I remember when I was 12 years old, unfortunately I lost a school year, I was disappointed in myself and my parents. But I started thinking about how I could change my attitude and also started planning what I really wanted to do with my life. I understood that only through effort and concentration is that people mature in life.

Little by little I improved my notes until in the year 2015 I was invited to participate in the Campeones program. I saw the program as an opportunity that would help me find what I’ve been looking for so long and the possibility of getting a scholarship. Honestly it was very difficult to achieve, I had to sacrifice time for fun, actively participate in community projects and focus on studies to be the best. It was at that moment that I realized that I was able to do many things not only for myself but for the people in my community. I improved my English and learned to be a team player. The rehabilitation project of the kindergarten in the town of Higuera Blanca was a project of great impact on the town and I am proud to have been involved.

Winning the school scholarship at the Bucerías School has made me more aware of my education and how mindful it is to prepare for the future. I’m excited to finish high school and start studying the international relations career, working abroad and possibly going to Hawaii.

Alondra Flores
Let me tell you something about me ...
My name is Alondra Nayely Flores Santiago, I am 16 years old and I live in Punta de Mita, Nayarit.
I’m sure my experience in Campeones is unforgettable. So many memories, goals that I fulfilled with my classmates and my teacher, challenges that we thought were almost impossible to face, and look at me now, I am a high school student in an excellent college, putting the name of my community, my former classmates and Peace.
At the end of the Campeones program I not only won the academic scholarship for the Bucerías College, but also received one of the greatest teachings of my life; The teamwork of all my fellow Campeones to support the community of Higuera Blanca, where we help more than 90 children to improve the condition of their kindergarten.
Getting to a new school has been a little tricky, everything was different from what I was used to, but now I’m happy to have made friends who share the same passion for football as I do, and over time I’ve even shown them who I am and what I can accomplish. Everything I’ve accomplished has cost me a lot of time, effort and tears, but I’ve overcome every single challenge.
Thanks to this new experience, my personality changed and my goals are getting bigger and better. For example, I would like to play football professionally, as well as study hotel management and work in prestigious hotels. I want to travel the world and eventually be the general manager of a wonderful hotel. One of my biggest dreams is to build a gym and become a nutritionist. It seems too much, but I’m on the right track and I have confidence that I will see my dreams done sooner or later.

Let me tell you something about me

I am Misael Alejandro Ramos Pelayo, from Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. I’m 15 years old, I love playing violin, exercising and playing volleyball. I also enjoy listening to music in my free time. I currently study at the Colegio Bucerías thanks to the scholarship I got in PEACE. After several months of effort in the Champions project and preparing enough for the English interviews, I managed to win the scholarship to continue my high school studies. I am proud of what I have accomplished, what I am learning, glad to have new friends and especially thankful to my sponsors for giving me the opportunity to have a quality education.

Studying in PEACE helped me to mature in many respects; To have confidence in myself, to have community awareness, to make friends, to learn from teamwork, and to improve little by little in my second language, English.

I remember that when I was studying in champions, I enjoyed it immensely, I really think this was the best part of my life so far. The champions program completely changed me and when I finished the school cycle I felt like I had become a different person. I am satisfied with the success I have achieved, so I will continue to prepare myself with all my strength to be a great lawyer, or a nutritionist expert in the future.

Fernanda Prado
Let me tell you something about me ...

My name is Fernanda Prado and I was born on December 10, 1999. Throughout my years of school I have had the joy of meeting wonderful people who until today are still at my side showing a true friendship. But when I joined the Campeones program, I didn’t imagine meeting a group of classmates who are now my best friends, with the same dreams and goals in life. Everything I have experienced and learned at his side is now part of my personality. All those homeworks, projects, afternoons of study and experiences that I was by their side and with the guide of my teacher of Campeones, helped me to obtain a scholarship in a great school to which I now belong.
I remember my first day, it was the most exciting day because I didn’t know what I expected, it was one of the happiest people there.
I also remember with affection that within the Campeones program I started a social project in support of our community with other classmates. Together we managed to raise funds to create a very nice bus stop, which gave shade and comfort while people were waiting for their transportation. It was a great experience, full of hard work and commitment. Although we ended up exhausted for so much work, I managed to learn a lot, like teamwork, knowing that I can do anything and understand the importance of helping others to achieve my dreams.
Now that I am studying at Bucerías School, I am learning many more things that allow me to focus on my future, not forgetting where I come from and all the support of my family, friends and all the people of PEACE.

I’m Jovany and I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, land of the famous Tequila and Mariachi. I am 17 years old and have been living in Punta de Mita since I was 14 years old, but I fondly remember my hometown. I started studying at PEACE at the age of 15, it is one of the best things that have happened in my life, it represents for me  a large open door of support and opportunities. Now I can say that I have more tools to get ahead in my studies, I feel confident of myself and what I do, I feel I can fulfill any challenge that I propose.

I love all kinds of sports, but my favorite is surfing, that’s what makes me happy, it fills me with adrenaline and life. Being in contact with the ocean gives me strength, riding the waves is a unique experience. One thing I am interested in studying photography in a profesional way, because it is amazing for me how we can capture a small moment of our life and portray it forever.

Someday I want to travel to different parts of the world, taking pictures and working hard to perfect the techniques of photography. When I’m older I have the goal of helping children who do not have enough resources to continue studying or training properly, because I would like to paint a big smile on their faces and enjoy the same as I have done.

Daniel

Let me tell you something about me

My name is Daniel Benítez, I was born in Tepic, Nayarit on October 9, 1999, and I have lived in Punta de Mita for 11 years.
I have studied at various schools in Bahía de Banderas, so I have met many teachers and classmates who have taught me about how important education is, but I also recognize that so many school changes have prevented me from taking root in one place, knowing my classmates and teachers thoroughly. I have always enjoyed studying, but when I continued my studies in Punta de Mita that is when I really became passionate about sports like basketball and ping pong, which changed my view about my future and also about the possibilities of fulfilling my own goals through the effort and constancy.
Thanks to my great grades and efforts, I was accepted in the CAMPEONES program where I’ve had the best experience of my life so far. I improved my English and Critical Thinking skills, especially to make decisions that will affect my future. I think this helped me to progress as a different person, I loved helping the community with the bus stop project and now I can proudly say that I was part of that community project. I remember sometimes it was stressful and hard, but our teacher gave us advice to overcome challenges, because it is part of life to deal with the challenges that arise.
I applied with great enthusiasm hoping for a scholarship to Colegio Bucerias, which fortunately I received and it’s the result of months of hard work and constant study, it was nothing easy. I felt proud of myself, like someone who is beginning to grow up in mind and spirit. I am very happy and excited about my life and what is to come.
I will not easily forget the support of my teachers in PEACE.
